Bernardo Paz : The Man Behind Inhotim

Crane TV has most recently made a short documentary to understand the creation and position of one of Brazil's biggest contemporary arts centre: Inhotim. Located in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, the Inhotim is a huge garden that houses several pavilions for art installations.

According to Paz, a child cannot understand contemporary art in a classroom, as he won't experience it enough to like it. Once arriving in a space where interaction with these works are basically compulsory, none the less appealing, a child's appreciation for that work is eased. The Inhotim started out as a private garden where Pedro Nehring and Roberto Burle Marx together with Paz built an incredible landscape that eventually lodged architectural buildings made to house specific artworks. As that space started to grow, Paz started to invite more and more people, until he decided, in 2006, that he should open this amazing place to the public.
